Client rights in D.C.
Covered services require a contract in English and the service language, itemized services and fees, the right to consult an attorney, return of documents, cancellation within 72 hours, and required complaint information.
Required cancellation and non-attorney notices must appear near the signature in the prescribed format. A website checkbox does not replace that service contract.
No advance fees for unperformed work, no paid referrals for services the operator cannot or will not perform, and no claims of special influence with government agencies.
